Chapter 648: Elvisโs First Dance Tonight
Olive recognized the mysterious man as Elvis. What was he doing? She sensed he should have recognized her, but he was preoccupied with Clara. Clara hadn't bothered Olive in days; she'd likely forgotten about her.
At that moment, Oliveโs phone rangโit was Clara. Olive answered, and Claraโs proud voice announced, โHello, Olive, are you feelingโฆโ The call was cut off. They hadnโt seen each other for days, and Clara was already soโฆ solicitous.
โIs there something you need me to do?โ Olive asked impatiently.
โOf course! In two days, itโs the Augustine Cooperationโs annual meeting and party. Elvis has invited me as his girlfriend, but how can I go alone? I need my female official.โ
Olive knew Clara was flaunting her affection for Elvis. She didn't want to go, but she had to see him. Something felt off about Elvis.
โOkay, Iโll be there on time,โ she assured Clara.
Olive arrived at the Augustine Cooperation. As the leader of the Red Mafia, the Augustine Cooperation controlled the economic lifelines of several continents. The understated luxury impressed Olive. She knew Elvis was wealthy, but she hadn't imagined this level of opulence.
Waiting for the elevator, she heard approaching footsteps. It was Clara, resplendent in a diamond evening gown, makeup, and high heels. She looked proud as a peacock.
โSadie, youโve arrived,โ Clara greeted her cheerfully.
Olive's sharp eyes noted Clara's genuine happiness; Elvis was clearly dating her. Olive remained cold and silent.
Clara pulled out her phone, speaking in a coquettish voice: โElvis, Iโm here. My driver brought me; you donโt need to pick me up. Okay, Iโll wait for you. Come quickly.โ
She hung up, having spoken to Elvis. Then, turning to Olive, she said, โOlive, you see how Elvis dotes on me? No amount of love can resist our charms. You staked everything on Elvis, and you're destined to lose.โ Clara laughed softly.
Remembering Elvis pushing her into the pool, the humiliation flooded back. Clara had felt defeated then, about to consult her mother, but then Elvis started dating her. She was overjoyed.
Oliveโs face remained impassive, but she frowned slightly at Claraโs taunts. Approaching footsteps and a respectful voice announced, โCEO.โ
Olive saw Elvis exiting a Rolls-Royce, impeccably dressed in a custom black suit. He was tall, handsome, elegant, and aloof.
Clara exclaimed joyfully, โMr. Augustine, youโre here!โ
Elvis nodded curtly, his gaze settling on Clara. A secretary opened the VIP elevator. He glanced at Clara and said, โLetโs go in.โ
Clara immediately took his arm. The two walked toward the VIP elevator, leaving Olive frozen. She had intended to speak to him, but their intimacy extinguished her desire. Heโd treated her as if she were invisible.
Clara, seemingly remembering Olive, called out, โSadie, come over too.โ Turning back to Elvis, she added, โMr. Augustine, she's my female official. Let her ride the VIP elevator with us.โ
Elvis indifferently replied, โItโs fine.โ
The three entered the elevator together. As it ascended, Olive stood silently in a corner, while Elvis and Clara stood close.
Clara said tenderly, โMr. Augustine, I hear tonightโs party includes a game.โ
Elvis replied in a low, indifferent tone, โMy subordinates arranged it.โ
โI heard the finale is your first dance, and youโll choose a lucky guest.โ
The news of Elvisโs first dance had spread throughout the city. Every female celebrity coveted the honor. But Clara was unconcerned; of course, the dance was hers. Tonight, she would be the star, the envy of all.
