Chapter 30
Despite their strained relationship, Julian respected Harrison's results-driven work. "Over the past year, you and your team have acquired numerous businesses in Orosi. Your accomplishments are well-recognized."
He continued, "On the other hand, despite Mr. Archer's generous provision of resources and training, I haven't achieved comparable results. I feel guilty for wasting his time and resources."
Harrison narrowed his eyes, scratching his head. "Oh? Is Little Four-Eyes praising me? Fine, I won't fight you today."
"Still, Mr. Kyle," Julian countered, "even though Four-Eyes hasn't produced outwardly visible results, he's consistently contributed to your vision of a prosperous world. Prosperity Group's net worth exceeds ten billion dollars."
He added, "And this is before Lifewater's market launch. Once it's released, the company's net worth will multiply tenfold, even a hundredfold!"
In reality, both men were far more complex than they appeared. Julian, seemingly weak and unassuming, possessed a sharp mind. Harrison, outwardly brash, was thoughtful and detail-oriented.
Their accomplishments far surpassed expectations. Harrison, despite his rough exterior and lack of formal education, controlled Croxd's underground network. In a single year, he rose from obscurity to challenge established families, achieving this entirely independently. Without this self-reliance, his influence would extend beyond Orosi, potentially encompassing half of Rhineland.
Julian, meanwhile, invented Lifewater. Even the diluted version, exclusively available to the wealthy, generated billions for Prosperity Group. This level of success was extraordinary.
Yet, here they stood, excitedly awaiting Kyle's summons. Their dedication stemmed from Kyle's powerful influence; they only knew their assigned tasks, unaware of the extent of his other operations. To them, Kyle was a god, an unattainable ideal.
"Come in, have a seat. You must have been waiting a while," Kyle said, smiling. Their legs were numb from the prolonged wait.
"Mr. Kyle, I've missed you so much!" Julian exclaimed.
"Mr. Archer, I can hardly describe the past year" Julian, usually articulate, struggled to express his longing. Harrison was equally speechless.
Kyle narrowed his eyes. "Julian, are you going soft on me? Your words are making my hair stand on end."
Harrison chuckled. "That's just Julian, Mr. Kyle. Let's celebrate and catch up properly!"
Kyle held a significant place in their hearts; he was their savior. They would readily obey any command, even unto death.
After inviting them inside, Kyle served tea. While they saw themselves as followers, Kyle regarded them as friends and brothers. Their reunion lifted his depressed mood.
"I expected Richard to arrive first," Kyle remarked, "but I suppose your proximity explains your quicker arrival."
Harrison and Julian exchanged glances, recalling Richard Marius's name. Fear flickered in their eyes. Despite their loyalty, they found Richard, a dangerous madman, intimidating. His mere presence sent chills down their spines; he was devoid of emotion. Yet, Richard's strength was undeniable; even Harrison couldn't withstand him for long.
