Chapter 300

Clara, still under the influence of the drug, felt reality crash down the moment she saw Jackson being escorted away by the police. Fear overwhelmed her, prompting a feigned confusion—she was too terrified to face Lemira.

Lemira turned to Janice. “Thanks to you, we got rid of that scumbag for good.” She explained, “Otherwise, with the Sinclairs backing him, any attempt to report Jackson would have been met with threats, just like what happened to the girl on the school team. Only by making a big scene could we ensure the Sinclairs wouldn't dare interfere.”

Janice sighed. “I really didn't do much. It's you who helped everyone!”

Suddenly, Clara's eyes widened. She slapped Janice. “So, you tipped them off!” Clara had always wondered why Lemira hadn't drunk the water she offered; Janice had leaked the information.

Lemira retaliated with a slap and splashed cold water on Clara's face. Grabbing Clara's chin, she said firmly, “You should be grateful. Janice messaged me about your plan. Did you really think you'd get away with it?”

“Yes,” Clara cried, “Jackson promised he’d delete the videos he had of me!”

“Idiot,” Lemira scoffed, “you believed that jerk? Janice called me, asked me to delete the videos and photos Jackson had of you. That’s the only way to end this.”

Clara froze, this possibility never having crossed her mind given Lemira's initial refusal to help. Lemira released her grip. “Besides, who knows if Jackson had backups? Only the police could ensure complete deletion.”

Clara burst into tears. “I… I was just so scared.”

Ignoring Clara, Lemira opened her laptop, determined to find evidence of Jackson laundering money for the Sinclairs—a perfect opportunity to leverage the family. The girl on the team’s evidence had been seized under threat, but Lemira feared no such intimidation.

She hacked into Jackson's mobile, email, computer, and other accounts, saving all accessible data. Her actions were borderline illegal; she nearly got caught by cyber police, but secured everything for later analysis of the money laundering evidence.

Closing her laptop, Lemira checked the news on her phone. “Orvin University’s women’s dormitory was terrorized by a cross-dresser, chased down by students!” The headline read, “Male disguised as a woman causes uproar in Orvin University’s dorm, suspected to be the captain of the Orvin Team!” It was trending, beyond even the Sinclairs' ability to suppress. Lemira shared the news on Facebook: “What goes around, comes around!”

Thaddeus quickly liked her post. Orion called shortly after. Lemira glanced at her dorm room before stepping onto the balcony to answer. “How are you feeling? Better?”

“I’ll be discharged tomorrow. Discovering the pervert in your school’s dorm… was that you?”

“How did you know?”

“The videos. One of the shadows fiercely kicking was unmistakably yours.” Orion had seen the viral videos and recognized Lemira’s silhouette.

Lemira chuckled. “Dealing with perverts is everyone’s duty.”

“He didn’t hurt you, did he?”

“No, everyone beat him black and blue before the police arrived.”

Orion’s gaze was enigmatic, his voice calm. “Is that all?” He sensed more to the story.

Looking at the night sky, Lemira replied, “Yes, that’s it.” After the car accident, he'd almost been lost. She couldn't risk endangering him again; distance was safer.
