Chapter 352

Lomira nodded, a determined gleam in her eye. โ€œIโ€™ll figure something out. Iโ€™m aiming to secure some sponsorships soon.โ€ She was off to a networking dinner that evening, a gathering ripe with potential sponsors from various companies. It was the perfect opportunity to drum up some financial support for their base. Just the day before, at the tournament, she had boldly claimed that the Orvin University Team would advance all the way to the finals. One had to wonder if any of the sponsors present had the foresight to invest early!

After class, Lemira headed straight to Maple Group. Entering the conference room, she found the tech team already assembled. However, the moment she appeared, the discussion halted, and the atmosphere turned noticeably tense.

โ€œWhatโ€™s up?โ€ Lemira inquired, sensing the shift.

The team leader looked at her, concern evident in his tone. โ€œLemira, did you not hear? Someoneโ€™s been spreading word in the legal circles, warning off any lawyers from taking our case.โ€

Really? Lemiraโ€™s thoughts immediately flew to Asher, but it struck her as odd since she couldnโ€™t recall Asher having such influence in legal circles. Could it be something orchestrated by Asherโ€™s fiancรฉe?

โ€œI wasnโ€™t aware,โ€ she admitted, feeling slightly off balance.

โ€œDonโ€™t sweat it. We just got wind of it too, but Iโ€™m sure the boss will handle it,โ€ one of her teammates tried to reassure her.

Everyone knew Lemira was Mr. Langstonโ€™s sister, and despite their brotherโ€™s favoritism making things tough for her, Lemira had shown remarkable independence by striking out on her own for college and beyond.

As Lemira settled into her chair, her mood soured. Without legal representation, they stood little chance in court.

Just then, someone announced, โ€œLemira, donโ€™t worry. The boss is on it.โ€

She looked up to see Thaddeus leading, with Orion following close behind. Orion, having recently resigned from his previous position, now worked here, making their paths cross more frequently.

Catching Lemiraโ€™s distracted gaze, Orion quietly texted her: [Daydreaming?]

Her phone pinged, and with a slight flush, she silenced it, only to see Orionโ€™s message. She glanced at him before replying, [Delete my photo.]

[Itโ€™s deleted.]

But as Lemira locked eyes with Orion across the room, his calm, slightly amused gaze told her otherwise. She fumed silently, doubting his words.

Thaddeus, wrapping up the meeting, asked, โ€œAny other concerns?โ€

โ€œMr. Draven,โ€ someone spoke up, โ€œthereโ€™s been talk about someone threatening lawyers against taking our case against the Langston Group.โ€

โ€œReally?โ€ Thaddeus seemed genuinely surprised, having never worried about such an issue before. He reassured everyone, โ€œIโ€™ve already secured a lawyer. Donโ€™t worry about it. Meeting adjourned.โ€

As Lemira lingered, Orion approached. โ€œWere you worried about that?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ she admitted. โ€œAsher always plays dirty. It wouldnโ€™t surprise me if he resorted to such tactics.โ€

Thaddeus chimed in, a smile in his voice, โ€œLemon, no need to fret. Weโ€™ll win this case.โ€

Orion shifted the conversation. โ€œHave they decided who will take the fall for this?โ€

Recalling her bold declaration from the day before, Lemira was about to respond when her phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, she quipped, โ€œSpeak of the devil.โ€

Answering the call on speaker, she greeted, โ€œMr. Asher, calling personally must mean youโ€™re ready to take responsibility for everything, right?โ€

Asher, caught off guard, was momentarily at a loss for words. That cheeky girl, how dare she speak to him like that?
