Chapter 416
After a few days of peace, Lemira made her way to the teamโs headquarters, only to discover a film crew had taken over the place. There, under a sunshade, sat Caspian, shades on, exuding his usual arrogance. Just the sight of him soured Lemiraโs mood instantly. She could almost hear Caspianโs smug voice in her head, plotting ways to corner her into submission. The nerve of that guy, she thought, always lingering like a bad smell.
As soon as Caspian spotted Lemira, he sprang up. โAh, my dear sister, youโve finally graced us with your presence. Fancy a role in the movie? I can make that happen.โ
โIโd rather not. Since when do you have the authority to shoot a movie here, anyway?โ
โThe school gave its blessing. Iโve been planning this youth drama about life at Orvin University Team. Think of it as a sweet, coming-of-age story.โ
Caspianโs grin was as infuriating as ever, acting as if their recent quarrel had never happened. So, this was why it had been so quiet these past few daysโhe was lying in wait.
โLemmy, why donโt you make a cameo? Itโd be a family affair.โ
Evelina stood nearby, dolled up in a preppy plaid skirt and ponytail, looking every bit the innocent girl. Lemiraโs face was a mask of disdain. โWho said weโre family?โ
Evelina stepped forward, grabbing Lemiraโs hand. โLemmy, I know youโre still mad at me.โ
โGet lost!โ
Lemira yanked her hand away, sending Evelina dramatically tumbling to the ground. All eyes turned to them. Evelinaโs eyes welled up, ready to play the victim, but Caspian was quick to pull her up, his smile not faltering. โOh, what happened? Did you trip?โ
Evelina shrank back. โLemmy, she pushed me.โ
โImpossible. Lemira doesnโt have the strength to push you over. Mustโve been your own clumsiness, right?โ
Caspianโs stare bore into Evelina, a clear warning. Finally, Evelina nodded, her voice tiny. โIโฆ I tripped on my own.โ
โThatโs more like it.โ Caspianโs smile widened as he turned to Lemira. โSee? Iโm on your side this time. No more accusations of favoritism, okay?โ
Lemira found the whole scene laughable. Without warning, she slapped Evelina across the face. Evelina shrieked. โWhy would you do that?โ
โWhy? Do I need a special occasion to smack some sense into you?โ
As if Lemira didnโt know Evelinaโs fall was nothing but a charade. Turning on her heel, Lemira stormed into the headquarters. There was no way sheโd play along with their farce. Outside, Caspian hurriedly had his agents explain to the onlookers that the scene was merely a rehearsal, nothing serious.
Chapter 4
Evelina, playing the part of the wounded bird, stood beside Caspian. โCaspian, my face is bruised. I canโt shoot today.โ
โI understand. Weโll take today off. Tomorrow we can continue.โ Caspianโs tone was soothing. โIf your fans or classmates ask about what happened, you know what to say, right?โ
โI know.โ
โGood girl. If only Lemira were as obedient as you. Looks like I need to figure out a way to teach her a lesson.โ Caspianโs voice grew colder.
Evelina seized her chance. โCaspian, if you tell everyone Iโm rehearsing with Lemmy and then she doesnโt show up in the film, what then? Maybe we should give her a role.โ
โThereโd be plenty of chances for revenge,โ she thought.
โThatโs a good point.โ
โBut Iโm afraid Lemmy wonโt agree.โ
Caspianโs tone turned imperious. โShe wonโt have a choice.โ
Soon enough, Lemira received a call from the university administration, urging her to comply with Caspianโs request and accept a role in the film. As the team captain, Lemira found it impossible to refuse, unless she was willing to give up her position. But why should she sacrifice her dreams for the Langstons?
Caspian walked into her office, looking down at her with a smirk. โIโve always said, there are many ways to make someone comply. So, do you yield?โ
