Chapter 441

Lemira caught sight of Lucian fainting, and for a moment, she was at a loss for words. She glanced up at Orion, โ€œLetโ€™s get a doctor to look at him first; donโ€™t want him dropping dead here.โ€ It was then Orion glanced over at the PR team, and Debby quickly took her team to fetch a doctor to examine Lucian.

Now, it was just the two of them alone. Lemira lowered her gaze as the man beside her spoke, โ€œDoes your arm still hurt?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s better now, as long as I donโ€™t touch the wound.โ€

Seeing the injuries on her, Orionโ€™s expression darkened, โ€œRight now, the most important thing is for you to heal. Donโ€™t worry about anything else.โ€

โ€œI know, with TG Groupโ€™s PR Team on my side, I really donโ€™t have much to worry about.โ€

After saying this, Lemira sneaked a glance at him, โ€œAre you still mad?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t do that next time.โ€ Orion flicked her forehead gently, โ€œNext time, talk to me about how to handle things. Donโ€™t just take it all on yourself.โ€

Lemira touched her forehead, feeling something slowly changing between them.

Just then, Debby from the PR team came over, โ€œMs. Langston, Mr. Lucianโ€™s condition isnโ€™t looking good. The doctorโ€™s asking for a family member.โ€

Thinking of Lucianโ€™s gaunt appearance, Lemira felt as if her heart was stuffed with cotton. Orion took her hand in his, his palm warm and dry, โ€œYou donโ€™t owe the Langstons anything.โ€

โ€œI know. Letโ€™s go see him, and once he wakes up, we can have him transferred out of here.โ€

Lemira didnโ€™t pull away as they walked together. She glanced at him, and Orion looked back, โ€œWhat is it?โ€

His tone was calm, their fingers interlaced naturally as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Lemira looked away, a small smile forming on her lips.

They reached the doctorโ€™s office. The doctor, taken aback by Orionโ€™s presence and noticing he was holding hands with a girl, deduced their relationship was no ordinary one.

Lemira initiated, โ€œHowโ€™s Lucian doing?โ€

The doctor brought out Lucianโ€™s X-rays, โ€œHis stomach condition is quite severe. I recommend a biopsy; we suspect it might be gastric cancer.โ€

โ€œGastric cancer? Could there be a mistake? Heโ€™s always had stomach issues but has been under medical supervision.โ€

Hearing the words โ€œgastric cancer,โ€ Lemira felt an unreal sensation. She remembered in her previous life Lucian never developed gastric cancer. She didnโ€™t quite catch what the doctor said next.

Orion led Lemira out of the consultation room, โ€œI remember his stomach issues being old, but for it to deteriorate this quickly means he didnโ€™t take it seriously.โ€

Chapter 44

Back in Lyria, Lucian had fainted once before, and Lemira had also taken him to the hospital. Lemira took a deep breath, โ€œEver heard of the butterfly effect?โ€

โ€œYeah, but what does that have to do with Lucianโ€™s illness?โ€

Lemira looked down, โ€œDo you think because one personโ€™s destiny changes, it could affect others as well?โ€

โ€œCome with me, I want to show you something.โ€

Orion led Lemira to the backyard, โ€œWhat are we looking at?โ€

โ€œLook at the ants on the path.โ€ He crouched down, placing a leaf in the antsโ€™ path, altering their course, โ€œTheir destiny has changed too.โ€

Lemira saw the antsโ€™ orderly line descending into chaos. Orion continued, โ€œOur lives are always changing. You might decide on a whim which road to take, what to do today, which way to go home. No one knows what changes these decisions might bring.โ€

As Lemira watched the ants navigate around the leaf and reform their line, she nodded, โ€œI understand now, thank you.โ€

Lucianโ€™s stomach issues were evident from the start, but Hogan mentioned surgery was needed long ago, yet it was delayed until now.

Orion was about to say more when his phone rang.
