Lemira caught sight of Lucian fainting, and for a moment, she was at a loss for words. She glanced up at Orion, “Let’s get a doctor to look at him first; don’t want him dropping dead here.” It was then Orion glanced over at the PR team, and Debby quickly took her team to fetch a doctor to examine Lucian.

Now, it was just the two of them alone. Lemira lowered her gaze as the man beside her spoke, “Does your arm still hurt?”

“It’s better now, as long as I don’t touch the wound.”

Seeing the injuries on her, Orion’s expression darkened, “Right now, the most important thing is for you to heal. Don’t worry about anything else.”

“I know, with TG Group’s PR Team on my side, I really don’t have much to worry about.”

After saying this, Lemira sneaked a glance at him, “Are you still mad?”

“Don’t do that next time.” Orion flicked her forehead gently, “Next time, talk to me about how to handle things. Don’t just take it all on yourself.”

Lemira touched her forehead, feeling something slowly changing between them.

Just then, Debby from the PR team came over, “Ms. Langston, Mr. Lucian’s condition isn’t looking good. The doctor’s asking for a family member.”

Thinking of Lucian’s gaunt appearance, Lemira felt as if her heart was stuffed with cotton. Orion took her hand in his, his palm warm and dry, “You don’t owe the Langstons anything.”

“I know. Let’s go see him, and once he wakes up, we can have him transferred out of here.”

Lemira didn’t pull away as they walked together. She glanced at him, and Orion looked back, “What is it?”

His tone was calm, their fingers interlaced naturally as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Lemira looked away, a small smile forming on her lips.

They reached the doctor’s office. The doctor, taken aback by Orion’s presence and noticing he was holding hands with a girl, deduced their relationship was no ordinary one.

Lemira initiated, “How’s Lucian doing?”

The doctor brought out Lucian’s X-rays, “His stomach condition is quite severe. I recommend a biopsy; we suspect it might be gastric cancer.”

“Gastric cancer? Could there be a mistake? He’s always had stomach issues but has been under medical supervision.”

Hearing the words “gastric cancer,” Lemira felt an unreal sensation. She remembered in her previous life Lucian never developed gastric cancer. She didn’t quite catch what the doctor said next.

Orion led Lemira out of the consultation room, “I remember his stomach issues being old, but for it to deteriorate this quickly means he didn’t take it seriously.”

Back in Lyria, Lucian had fainted once before, and Lemira had also taken him to the hospital. Lemira took a deep breath, “Ever heard of the butterfly effect?”

“Yeah, but what does that have to do with Lucian’s illness?”

Lemira looked down, “Do you think because one person’s destiny changes, it could affect others as well?”

“Come with me, I want to show you something.”

Orion led Lemira to the backyard, “What are we looking at?”

“Look at the ants on the path.” He crouched down, placing a leaf in the ants’ path, altering their course, “Their destiny has changed too.”

Lemira saw the ants’ orderly line descending into chaos. Orion continued, “Our lives are always changing. You might decide on a whim which road to take, what to do today, which way to go home. No one knows what changes these decisions might bring.”

As Lemira watched the ants navigate around the leaf and reform their line, she nodded, “I understand now, thank you.”

Lucian’s stomach issues were evident from the start, but Hogan mentioned surgery was needed long ago, yet it was delayed until now.

Orion was about to say more when his phone rang.
