Chapter 442

Orion stepped aside to take a call, returning to Lemiraโ€™s side with a decision in mind. โ€œIโ€™ve got to head to the office to sort out some stuff. Iโ€™ll be back for dinner. What are you in the mood for?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m craving the signature dish from Bistrova. Can we get takeout from there?โ€

โ€œIf thatโ€™s what you want, Iโ€™d pluck the stars from the sky to stir-fry them for you.โ€

Lemira burst into laughter. Was he really making jokes like this?

Orion pinched her cheek gently. โ€œThereโ€™s that smile. Donโ€™t go around with a long face. It adds years.โ€

Her cheeks warmed at his touch. โ€œYou better get going. Iโ€™ll be fine on my own.โ€

He gave her a long, deep look before turning to leave. Around the corner, he spotted his PR team waiting. โ€œMake sure Bistrova delivers her meals while sheโ€™s in the hospital.โ€

Debby nodded eagerly. โ€œOf course, Mr. Everhart. Consider it done.โ€

After Orion left, Lemira found herself alone in the small garden, watching ants move their colony, the sky looking like it was on the brink of a thunderstorm. Soon after, Lucian woke up.

Lemira entered his room. โ€œYour conditionโ€™s gotten worse. The doctor recommends more tests and to proceed with the surgery sooner.โ€

โ€œI know my condition. I had the surgery scheduled, but then this happened. With Asher away on business, I couldnโ€™t just ignore it.โ€

โ€œBut this is out of your hands.โ€

Lemiraโ€™s tone was direct, her expression serious. โ€œYouโ€™d be better off getting the surgery.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll make sure Caspian realizes his mistake and apologizes to you.โ€

Lemira didnโ€™t take the bait. Since the livestream incident, she hadnโ€™t planned on showing Caspian any mercy.

Then Debby walked in. โ€œMs. Langston, the Langstons are here. Theyโ€™ve been stopped in the hospital parking lot, spotted by our team.โ€

โ€œPerfect timing. Lucian, youโ€™ll be transferring hospitals. Go with them.โ€

Lemira summoned a wheelchair for Lucian, escorting him to the underground parking. In the elevator, Lucian couldnโ€™t help but speak. โ€œLemmy, with Caspianโ€™s career ruined and his face scarred, even surgery might leave marks.โ€

Lemiraโ€™s face was impassive. โ€œSome things lose their meaning when said aloud. Iโ€™d advise you to keep quiet.โ€

She knew Lucianโ€™s tendency to smooth things over, to make big issues small if possible. But in situations like these, someone always had to lose for a resolution to be found.

โ€œLemmy, I-โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not the one to lose out here, and your advice wonโ€™t change my mind.โ€

That shut Lucian up. Exiting the elevator, Lemira pushed him to the parking lot where Asher, fuming with rage, confronted her. โ€œFeeling guilty, so youโ€™re hiding in here?โ€

Chapter 44

Lucian interjected, โ€œAsher, must you be so hurtful?โ€

โ€œHmph, Iโ€™m not wrong. Lemira, hiding in the hospital wonโ€™t solve your problems. You think you can take on TG Groupโ€™s PR team with your little stunt? Iโ€™d advise you to clarify that the livestream was just a rehearsal, not domestic abuse.โ€

Lemiraโ€™s lips curled coldly. โ€œGood thing I have my PR team.โ€

โ€œThink your PR can match TGโ€™s? Youโ€™re new here, probably donโ€™t know the ropes.โ€

Asherโ€™s tone dripped with scorn.

Debby stepped forward. โ€œHello, Mr. Langston. Iโ€™m the PR manager for TG.โ€

Asherโ€™s face froze. โ€œLemira, you went behind Caspianโ€™s back to poach his PR team? Thatโ€™s harsh.โ€

Lucian intervened, โ€œAsher, what are you saying?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t stop me!โ€

Asherโ€™s push sent Lucian tumbling from his wheelchair. Lemira rushed to help, only to be shoved by Asher. โ€œDonโ€™t pretend to care now.โ€

Lemira scoffed, โ€œHe came out in a wheelchair, and you didnโ€™t even ask how he was.โ€

โ€œBeing in a wheelchair isnโ€™t the end of the world.โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s got stomach cancer.โ€

Thatโ€™s when Asher finally panicked.
