Chapter 442
Orion stepped aside to take a call, returning to Lemiraโs side with a decision in mind. โIโve got to head to the office to sort out some stuff. Iโll be back for dinner. What are you in the mood for?โ
โIโm craving the signature dish from Bistrova. Can we get takeout from there?โ
โIf thatโs what you want, Iโd pluck the stars from the sky to stir-fry them for you.โ
Lemira burst into laughter. Was he really making jokes like this?
Orion pinched her cheek gently. โThereโs that smile. Donโt go around with a long face. It adds years.โ
Her cheeks warmed at his touch. โYou better get going. Iโll be fine on my own.โ
He gave her a long, deep look before turning to leave. Around the corner, he spotted his PR team waiting. โMake sure Bistrova delivers her meals while sheโs in the hospital.โ
Debby nodded eagerly. โOf course, Mr. Everhart. Consider it done.โ
After Orion left, Lemira found herself alone in the small garden, watching ants move their colony, the sky looking like it was on the brink of a thunderstorm. Soon after, Lucian woke up.
Lemira entered his room. โYour conditionโs gotten worse. The doctor recommends more tests and to proceed with the surgery sooner.โ
โI know my condition. I had the surgery scheduled, but then this happened. With Asher away on business, I couldnโt just ignore it.โ
โBut this is out of your hands.โ
Lemiraโs tone was direct, her expression serious. โYouโd be better off getting the surgery.โ
โIโll make sure Caspian realizes his mistake and apologizes to you.โ
Lemira didnโt take the bait. Since the livestream incident, she hadnโt planned on showing Caspian any mercy.
Then Debby walked in. โMs. Langston, the Langstons are here. Theyโve been stopped in the hospital parking lot, spotted by our team.โ
โPerfect timing. Lucian, youโll be transferring hospitals. Go with them.โ
Lemira summoned a wheelchair for Lucian, escorting him to the underground parking. In the elevator, Lucian couldnโt help but speak. โLemmy, with Caspianโs career ruined and his face scarred, even surgery might leave marks.โ
Lemiraโs face was impassive. โSome things lose their meaning when said aloud. Iโd advise you to keep quiet.โ
She knew Lucianโs tendency to smooth things over, to make big issues small if possible. But in situations like these, someone always had to lose for a resolution to be found.
โLemmy, I-โ
โIโm not the one to lose out here, and your advice wonโt change my mind.โ
That shut Lucian up. Exiting the elevator, Lemira pushed him to the parking lot where Asher, fuming with rage, confronted her. โFeeling guilty, so youโre hiding in here?โ

Lucian interjected, โAsher, must you be so hurtful?โ
โHmph, Iโm not wrong. Lemira, hiding in the hospital wonโt solve your problems. You think you can take on TG Groupโs PR team with your little stunt? Iโd advise you to clarify that the livestream was just a rehearsal, not domestic abuse.โ
Lemiraโs lips curled coldly. โGood thing I have my PR team.โ
โThink your PR can match TGโs? Youโre new here, probably donโt know the ropes.โ
Asherโs tone dripped with scorn.
Debby stepped forward. โHello, Mr. Langston. Iโm the PR manager for TG.โ
Asherโs face froze. โLemira, you went behind Caspianโs back to poach his PR team? Thatโs harsh.โ
Lucian intervened, โAsher, what are you saying?โ
โDonโt stop me!โ
Asherโs push sent Lucian tumbling from his wheelchair. Lemira rushed to help, only to be shoved by Asher. โDonโt pretend to care now.โ
Lemira scoffed, โHe came out in a wheelchair, and you didnโt even ask how he was.โ
โBeing in a wheelchair isnโt the end of the world.โ
โHeโs got stomach cancer.โ
Thatโs when Asher finally panicked.
