Chapter 443

Lemira shot Asher a frosty look, her face a mask of disdain. โ€œYou keep saying itโ€™s all for the family,โ€ she sneered, โ€œbut when Lucian rolled out in that wheelchair, looking pale as a ghost, I didnโ€™t hear a peep of concern from you.โ€

โ€œLemira, is that any way to talk to your brother?โ€ Asherโ€™s voice boomed across the room.

Lemira remained cool, her voice steady. โ€œThe guiltier the conscience, the louder the bark. Itโ€™s just a way to mask their own faults.โ€

Asher was left speechless, struck by her words. He then turned to Lucian, finally noticing how gaunt he had become. Lifting him with ease, as if he weighed nothing, Asherโ€™s concern grew. โ€œHow have you gotten so thin? Didnโ€™t you say you needed surgery for your stomach issues? Didnโ€™t you go?โ€

Sitting in his wheelchair, Lucian pushed Asherโ€™s hands away. โ€œAsher, I was in the hospital waiting for the surgery, but then this mess happened, and I had to come.โ€

โ€œNow that Iโ€™ve taken leave from work, let me handle this. You just focus on getting better. If itโ€™s serious, we can ask Rowan to come back and operate.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s not that serious. No need to bother Rowan.โ€

โ€œBut didnโ€™t she say you had cancer? How is that not serious?โ€

Asher suspected Lemira was lying, exaggerating Lucianโ€™s condition. Lucian just offered a bitter smile, denying nothing.

Asher turned back to Lemira, his voice raised in anger. โ€œDid you hear that? Lucian doesnโ€™t have cancer. You just wish the worst for us, donโ€™t you?โ€

Lemira glanced at Lucian before turning away, deciding some battles werenโ€™t worth fighting. โ€œI shouldโ€™ve minded my own business,โ€ she muttered under her breath as she started to leave, only to be stopped by Asherโ€™s angry voice.

โ€œLemira, did I say you could go? After what youโ€™ve done to Caspian, leaving him scarred, you can just stay in the hospital without a care?โ€

She turned, her tone final. โ€œIt seems they havenโ€™t told you the whole story. Wait for the police investigation.โ€

Lemira had no desire to argue further. But Asher, not willing to let it go, attempted to follow her, only to be blocked by Debby and her team. โ€œMr. Langston, take one more step and we call the police. Think about the repercussions for the Langston family.โ€

โ€œYou were hired for Caspianโ€™s PR, werenโ€™t you? How much is she paying you? Iโ€™ll double it!โ€

Debby looked at him oddly. โ€œThis isnโ€™t about money.โ€

The Langston family seemed out of touch. With the Everhart heirโ€™s protection, Lemira wasnโ€™t someone they could sway with cash.

โ€œAsher, just moments ago Ms. Langston was injured, and you didnโ€™t even ask about her. That family abuse livestream seems more and more credible now,โ€ Debby taunted.

Asherโ€™s face darkened. โ€œYou donโ€™t know Lemira. Because of her, the Langston family is on the brink of ruin.โ€

Lucian, sick; Alaric facing jail; and now Caspian injuredโ€”all because of Lemira.

Lucian tried to reason, โ€œAsher, are you really unaware of Caspianโ€™s nature, or just pretending?โ€

Chapter 440

Caspianโ€™s temper was notorious within the family.

Asher massaged his temples. โ€œI just donโ€™t get why Lemira canโ€™t step back. Havenโ€™t we been good to her? Instead, sheโ€™s sending one brother to jail and leaving the other in ruins.โ€

โ€œAsher, you know why Alaric is in jail. And itโ€™s not the first time Caspianโ€™s laid hands on Lemmy. Deep down, you know the truth, but youโ€™re forcing her to submit,โ€ Lucian didnโ€™t hold back, exposing Asherโ€™s true motives.

โ€œYou might think youโ€™re doing this for revenge, for our parents, but pressuring your own sister like this? Youโ€™ll regret it,โ€ Lucian warned.

โ€œI wonโ€™t,โ€ Asher declared stubbornly. โ€œIโ€™ve dedicated years to building our business for the day we could confront Orvin and avenge our parents. Look what Lemiraโ€™s done.โ€
