Chapter 478
Lucianโs face went through a spectacular range of emotions in a split second. If I had to sum it up, it was akin to the look of someone caught cheating.
Hogan quickly tried to smooth things over: โMs. Lemira, youโre the only sister that matters. No matter how much Evelina tries to curry favor, she canโt surpass your place.โ
โTo be honest, Iโm not too concerned about whoโs more important right now. Iโm here because I have something to discuss.โ
Lemira glanced at Hogan: โWould you mind waiting outside? I worry some might eavesdrop.โ
Lemira didnโt underestimate Evelina anymore. In her past life, her defeat could very well be attributed to Evelinaโs fatherโs interference.
After Hogan left, Lucian quickly said, โLemmy, what did you want to talk about? As long as itโs within my power, Iโm here to help.โ
โItโs straightforward. Before our parents passed, they made a verbal will, and you were there. I need you to testify to that.โ
Lemira came to the hospital specifically to have Lucian as her witness.
Hearing this, Lucian breathed a sigh of relief: โAnd here I thought it was something serious. Our parents did mention what they left for you. We didnโt give it to you earlier because you were underage, but now that youโre an adult, you indeed have the right to claim your belongings.โ
Lucianโs response gave Lemira some peace of mind.
โI disagree.โ
Asher slammed the door open, his face ashen, clearly having just rushed back. Evelina stood at the doorway, not daring to enter.
Asher, fuming, said, โLemira, you have only one choice: gracefully drop your lawsuit. Then, I might overlook your past actions and give you the inheritance our parents left you.โ
โAsher, how could you? Those belongings are rightfully Lemmyโs.โ
Asher scoffed, โBut donโt forget, if it werenโt for my hard work making the business so successful, all that wouldโve been left for Lemira were debts, not a single dollar. Why shouldnโt I have a say?โ
Hearing this, Evelina chimed in timidly, โAsher, maybe I should give the foundation back to Lemmy.โ
โWhat talk of giving back? Whatโs given to you is yours.โ
Asher turned to Lemira, โYou didnโt seem to care much over the phone. So why come to the hospital seeking Lucianโs help now? Isnโt that a bit embarrassing?โ
Lemira stood her ground, โIโm here to claim whatโs mine. If anyone should feel ashamed, itโs you, not me.โ
Asher was deliberately threatening Lemira; his reasoning was flimsy.
In a burst of frustrated rage, Asher exclaimed, โLemira, to think you havenโt changed a bit. Youโve brought the Langston family to ruin; you have no right to the inheritance!โ
Lucian intervened loudly, โAsher, why say such hurtful things? It was Alaric and Caspian who were in the wrong, not Lemmy!โ
โI know Alaric and Caspian were at fault, no need for you to point it out.โ
Asher adjusted his tie, somewhat calmer, โBut I had them apologize to Lemira. Her refusal to compromise is why Iโm so angry!โ
Lemira sneered, โSo, causing harm just requires an apology? Thatโs it?โ
โWhat else do you want? I can make them make it up to you in the future. I just wish youโd stand with the Langston family at this moment. You canโt even make this small compromise, and you still claim to be part of the Langstons?โ
โYouโre right, I indeed have no desire to be a Langston.โ
Lemira turned and left the room, only to be stopped by Caspian outside.
โLemira, if you relent on this matter, I promise to testify for you, to help you reclaim what our parents left. How about that?โ
