Chapter 479
Caspian couldnโt believe how much Lemira cared about their parentsโ legacy. At first, he thought Asherโs plan was futile, especially since Lemira had cut ties with the Langston family and vowed never to return. But to his surprise, Lemira truly cared.
Facing Caspian, Lemira expressed her disbelief: โSo, you all just stood by and watched as strangers claimed our parentsโ belongings? Using them as leverage against me?โ
Caspian, feeling guilty, admitted, โIf you had agreed to reconcile earlier, none of this wouldโve happened.โ
โYou guys never change,โ Lemira sighed. It was the same story, generation after generation.
Even knowing the kind of person Evelina was, both Lucian and Caspian remained silent when they saw Asher handing over the inheritance to her.
Disappointed, Lemira looked at Caspian. โThe real disappointment to our parents is you.โ
Caspian, too ashamed to meet Lemiraโs gaze, waited until she left before kicking a nearby trash can in frustration.
When Evelina appeared, Caspian pulled her aside.
โWhat do you want?โ Evelina screamed.
โListen up, you have no right to any of the foundation or property,โ Caspian snarled.
Evelina, unable to hold back, glared at him. โLet go, or Iโll tell the media youโre abusive. Youโll never recover from that.โ
โDare to talk back, Evelina?โ
โBecause Iโm not wrong. Youโve always been cowardly, blaming Lemira for leaving you behind. I just agreed with you, and now youโre pinning everything on me.โ
Evelina spoke quickly, barely above a whisper. โYou pretending to care for Lemira now, after treating her poorly all your life, isnโt that hypocritical?โ
Her words enraged Caspian. Grabbing her throat, he threatened, โWho gave you the right to speak? Believe me, I could end you!โ
โStruck a nerve, did I?โ
Evelina refused to back down. With Caspianโs reputation and career in shambles, she saw no need to appease him any longer.
โAsher, stop him!โ she gasped as Asher intervened, pulling Caspian away and rescuing her.
Breathing heavily, Evelina showed the marks on her neck. โCaspian, itโs not that I refused to give up the foundation. It was Asherโs decision.โ
Asher, furious, confronted Caspian. โYouโre a huge disappointment.โ
โAsher, Evelinaโs nothing but trouble. Donโt be fooled by her.โ
โEveโs character is clearer to me than anyone. Lay a hand on her again, and Iโll personally make sure you pay,โ Asher warned before leaving with Evelina.
Caspian was left seething, his agent trying to calm him down. โListen, as a friend, Iโm advising you not to go against Asher. Just get through this, and youโll have plenty of chances to deal with Evelina later.โ
Caspian knew he had limited options. But he couldnโt understand why Asher was so protective of Evelina. He always had a tough approach with Lemira, showing favoritism towards Evelina as if spellbound.
After leaving the hospital, Lemira received a call from Lucian.
โLemmy, Iโll support you in the will dispute,โ he offered.
โDoing so will anger him, and he wonโt agree. Are you sure?โ Lemira questioned, knowing the risks involved.
